AM I EVER GOING TO GET THROUGH THIS? Sometimes, no matter how much we try, it can feel like we are just grinding through life and always will. Like that good string of days, months or even a couple year’s is never going to come. It’s just always going to be miserable. If anyone ever felt like this, it was David. After being anointed as the upcoming king, valiantly standing up for the Lord by defeating Goliath and serving King Saul on the battlefield with great success he was unjustly declared an outlaw by King Saul. And for approximately the next eight years he lived life as an outlaw. Despite him sparing King Saul’s life and defeating the enemies of King Saul on multiple occasions he remained an outlaw. Camping is great but it can get old quick. Just imagine being David. On the run. Not knowing who to trust. Constantly on the move staying in caves and forest throughout Israel. But with all this David didn’t lose heart. He remained steadfast. How? He did what we so often do last. In Psalms 40:1-3 David writes, “I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.” As David was grinding through his miserable circumstances he looked to God and God was faithful. God worked through his circumstances to bring about a new song in his mouth. Have you ever been so encouraged you had to sing! That’s where David is at. And the result of others putting their trust in God he must have sung even more. Today be encouraged. As you look to the Lord in your hardships, if you are a child of His, He hears your cry and one day he will make you sing and change the hearts of those around you.
