Mid-week adult discipleship ministries at FBC serve and equip men and women in their love and service to the Lord
Corporate Worship is important and a pivotal aspect in our faith walk, however the Lord never intended our fellowship with the body to be limited to an hour a week on Sunday morning. It is in the intimacy of our smaller group adult discipleship ministries where relationships are developed and God's people can walk side by side with each other, encouraging, challenging and helping each other become the disciples God has called us to be. Please, take a few minutes to read through the ministry descriptions below and make plans to get involved.
MEN'S DISCIPLESHIP INTENSIVE
The Purpose of MDI:
- For God to build up the church into spiritual maturity (Christ-likeness) so that Christ may be glorified through us – Eph 4:13
- To equip qualified men to better serve in various areas of ministry (i.e. marriage, family, church ministry)
- Matthew 28:19-20 – To obey the command of the great commission in teaching disciples to observe everything that Jesus has commanded
- 2 Timothy 2:2 – To obey the calling of scripture for pastors to teach the body the sound doctrine and practice which they have received and pass it down to others who will be able to do the same
Requirements to be apart of MDI:
- Membership – you must be a member in good standing at First Baptist Church of Eaton Rapids (FBC)
- Attendance – you must be in regular attendance at all the stated meetings of FBC (SS, AM Worship) unless you have a legitimate excuse for failure to attend.
- Devotions – must be regularly spending time communing with God through Scripture reading and prayer
- Service – you must be serving in some capacity in the church
- Support – you must have the support of your wife (if married)
- Commitment – you must commit to attending all the MDI sessions (except for vacations and sickness) and doing all the required assignments
- Accountability - There will be an attendance sheet with accountability questions each meeting, and if a person begins failing to meet the requirements a leader will follow up with them about whether they need to drop out of the group.
Meeting Agenda
- Opening Prayer
- Review and discussion of reading materials
- Each week those in the training will be assigned a portion of a theological book and of the Bible.
They will be encouraged to be methodical rather than rushed in their reading so as to absorb
the material. - Those in the training will keep a ‘leadership journal’ in which they will record insights and questions they have from the reading (as well as notes from the discussion.) We want each person in training to write at least one insight or question from the theological book and one insight or question from the Bible reading to share with the group.
- Sharing and prayer – personal life (spiritual life, marriage, family, work, evangelism, discipleship, church)
Outside Meeting Accountability
- Each group will have a text group to keep each other up to date on prayer, insights into the curriculum and encourage one another.

The ladies of First Baptist Church of Eaton Rapids are studying the Old Testament scriptures together and growing together in our love and knowledge of the Lord. We hope to emerge from our study with a fuller and richer understanding of God’s Word and how every part of it is perfect, without error and points forward to the Messiah that has come in Jesus Christ.
The study material being used is entitled Seeing Jesus in the Old Testament by Nancy Guthrie http://seeingjesusintheoldtestament.com/ and is a study that is carrying us through to late 2023.
There are 3 different groups meeting at various days and times around Eaton Rapids.(1 mid-morning on Tuesdays, 1 in the afternoon on Wednesdays for home-school moms and their kids, and 1 on Tuesday evenings).
If you are interested in joining a woman’s Bible study group, please email so we can connect you with a group!
Connect Groups are a great place for building relationships with others in the church body. Right now we have 5 Connect Groups meeting across the Eaton County area at various times. Each group is comprised of 10-14 individuals who are committed to meeting regularly, studying the Word together, and doing life together in fellowship and community.
