Be Encouraged – Jan. 16th, 2017

The prevalence of sexual sin in our culture today is off the charts.  You can’t even go on a general news website without some sexually charged article being thrust into your face.  It saturates the television and is beyond easy to access in this technologically driven world.   And what’s worse than its prevalence is its acceptance.  Take this New Year’s Eve celebration for instance.  The focal singer’s clothing was made to give the appearance that she was wearing nothing.  I didn’t even watch this event and I know this. Why, because it was front page news and had to constantly click away from it whenever I went online the next day.  That’s our culture.  That’s how we bring in the new year.  This world is so sexually charged it’s ridiculous.   And not only is it ridiculous, it’s dangerous.  Listen to what Proverbs 9:13-18 says. The woman Folly is loud she is seductive and knows nothing.  She sits at the door of her house she takes a seat on the highest places of the town, calling to those who pass by who are going straight on their way, “Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!  And to him who lacks sense she says, “Stolen water is sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant. But he does not know that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.  Sexual sin is not a joke, it’s deadly.  Let’s run from it in every way. When sexual innuendoes on the movie screen come let’s run out as Christ would.  When conversations go south, let’s either stop the conversation if we can or leave it.  Let’s get protection on all our electronic devices.  Let’s find someone to keep us accountable.  Let’s fight this sin our culture loves, stand out as witnesses for Christ in this prevalent way.  Finally let’s enjoy life even more by seeking to remove this death from our lives.  Be encouraged today.  With God and together we can fight this sexual sin that have overtaken our culture.
