Go therefore and make disciples...

First Baptist Church of Eaton Rapids is on a mission to develop fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

Our vision is for everyone in our church body to LOVE. CONNECT. SHARE. & THRIVE.

The first step in becoming a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ is to believe in the person and love of Jesus Christ.  He is the Son of God (the 2nd Person of the Trinity) who came to save us from the well-earned consequence of our sin, hell.  How did He do this?  He paid for ours sins with His death on the cross.  Then He rose from the dead so that all who believe in Him can have eternal life. What are some ways we are seeking to help people take this first step? One, we present the Gospel every week from the pulpit.  Two, we take communion monthly.  Communion is a symbolic practice in which the Gospel is presented.  Three, we perform baptisms.  Baptism also is a symbolic practice in which the Gospel is presented.  Four, every ministry is centered around this message. Now, it’s vital to realize, that once a person believes in Jesus, they are entering into a loving relationship with God.  A relationship in which they are called to grow in their love for God.  How are we going to encourage that?  By offering preaching, teaching, and counseling that is centered on the Word of God.  We are not a country club committed to entertaining one-another.  We are the body of Christ committed to encouraging one another to love God.

The second step in becoming a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ is to establish, strong, encouraging, and Gospel-centered relationships with other believers.  This is what the Bible calls fellowship, and it is vital.  To go it alone is to ignore God’s design for every believer.  He has designed us to live in uplifting community with one another.  So, here at FBC we are striving to connect. One way we are striving to connect is through a small group ministry.  In small groups you can get beyond the “Hi and Bye” relationships that so often plague churches and establish deep supporting relationships.  Another way we are striving to connect is by plugging people into service.  When you serve with and for others you develop meaningful and helpful relationships.  In addition, we are going on yearly youth, men’s and women’s retreats.  These are great events that can help foster meaningful and lasting fellowship.  Our Men’s, Women’s, Youth, and Legacy programs are driven to cultivating these relationships.

Believers are called to share their faith.  This can be intimidating.  But there is no need to be.  We are doing what the all-powerful God of the universe wants us to do when we are witnessing.  So we are boldly and eagerly working to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. What are some ways we are doing this?  One is through personal evangelism.  Making sure everyone in our daily lives knows the Gospel.  Two, it is through consistent local outreach events.  We want everyone in our community to hear and believe in Jesus Christ.  Three, it’s through supporting foreign missionaries and going on mission’s trips.  30% of our budget is dedicated to supporting missionaries and right now we are planning a trip to Costa Rica where we will be putting on a Youth Program and going door to door sharing the Gospel.

Great leaders, train leaders.  We do not own our ministries.  We are stewards of God’s ministries.  And as stewards we are always seeking to train up new leaders to expand and continue the ministries God has allowed us to take part in.  So here at FBC we are striving to train up new leaders.

Well most importantly, you are always welcome at FBC. Wherever you are in your faith journey, our desire is to come alongside you, encourage you and grow with you as we seek to do this life well for the glory of God our father.
