It’s familiar but true, talk is cheap. As Christians we are just as guilty as anyone else for talking a great game but standing on the sidelines. Especially when it comes to evangelism. It’s easy to say we want Eaton Rapids to hear the Gospel and for revival to sweep through the streets. It’s easy to say our heart breaks for the men, women, and children who have no concept of the hell-fire danger their in. But, do we do more than the bare minimum to communicate the divine solution?
I have been asked several times in the past few months, “What is the biggest problem facing the church today?” Another way that’s asked is, “Why is the church in America dying? One of the primary reasons is the church being all bark and no bite when it comes to sharing Christ. Personal comfort and appeasing the world far too often wins out over unashamed, earnest, and deeply compassionate evangelism.
May none of this ever be said of FBC! Today, I urge you to get on your knees and pray for laborers. Pray for God to put a deep raging fire in YOUR heart and in the hearts of others to not just talk about being a light, but to BE a light. To intentionally, zealously, and with the utmost love and support, participate in telling ER about Christ!
This morning, I read in Matthew 11 what Jesus said about prayer, and it was so inspiring. He compared prayer to a man in search of bread who went to his friend’s house in the middle of the night. And Jesus said, “I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as much as he needs.” Brothers and sisters let’s get on our knees and PRAY, PRAY, PRAY for FBC to be a church that talks evangelism and does evangelism with this God-prescribed persistence.
What we are currently doing:
We are currently reaching out to ICAL (Assisted Living) every Sunday, the Jackson Prison every Tuesday, and around the world with a host of missionaries.
What we have opportunity to do:
Now, ICAL wants us to do a midweek Bible Study, the Jackson prison wants us to put on a Sunday service once a month, and God has opened the doors to Greyhound Intermediate School to put on a Good News Club!!
In addition to these incredible open doors, we need God to raise up the volunteers to make these ministries happen. Pray with God prescribed persistence for God to supply the laborers!
No doubt, you and I have neighbors that probably do not know Christ. Pray for God to kick you into gear and reach out with the salvation message. Wouldn’t it be an absolute atrocity to see your neighbor of five, ten, or fifteen years being ushered into the lake of fire on judgement day knowing YOU never reached out. May it never be! Pray for God to make you and those who live with you a laborer for the Kingdom of God in your neighborhood!
FBC, God is on the move! Let’s continue to partake in His salvation plan!
In Love,
Pastor John
