Is this ever going to end?

IS THIS EVER GOING TO END?  Sometimes, no matter how much we try, it can feel like we are just grinding through a certain issue and always will.  Is the grief of losing my parents, a spouse, or my child ever going to subside?  Am I ever going to be victorious over my struggle with pornography, swearing, smoking, drinking, unforgiveness or lying?  Will this corona virus thing ever end?  Am I ever going to get ahead at work or at school?  Will my kids and I get on the same page or will we forever be at odds?  Will this depression ever stop?
If anyone felt like this, it was King David.  After being anointed as the future king of Israel, heroically standing up for the Lord against Goliath and courageously serving King Saul on the battlefield with great success King Saul maliciously and unjustly declared David an outlaw.  And for the next eight years David was constantly having to set up camp, frantically pack up camp, and find a new secret place to camp.  Despite sparing King Saul’s life twice and defeating the enemies of King Saul while on the run, King Saul relentless hunted David.   And to make matters worse, King Saul was the father of David’s best friend, Jonathan.  That means for eight years David couldn’t see Jonathan.
Just imagine being David.  On the run, not knowing who to trust, sleeping with one eye open, and missing your best friend.  But with all this David remained steadfast.  He persevered and praised God.  How?  He did what we so often do last.  In Psalms 40:1-3 David writes, “I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry.  He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.  He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God.  Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.”  As David was grinding through his dismal circumstances he looked to God, waited on God and God was faithful.  God worked through David’s circumstances and put a new song in David’s heart.  Have you ever been so encouraged you had to sing!  That’s where God brought David.  And the result of others seeing his song and putting their trust in God David must have sung even more.  Today be encouraged.  Look to the Lord in your hardships.  And if you are a child of His through faith in Jesus Christ, He will hear your cry, and one day, He will make you sing.  And that song will encourage others to see, fear and put their trust in the LORD.  Our God is faithful.  Cry out to Him and He will make you sing!
