Do I Have Enough?

Do I have enough toilet paper, hand sanitizer, food, and money in the bank to get through this shutdown? Do I have enough patience to keep from losing my temper or complaining?  Do I have enough love to keep from becoming self-consumed and keep my eye on helping others?  Do I have enough drive to stay on task and be productive?

Questions that start with the phrase, “Do I have enough,” have been abundant during this shutdown.  And when I am operating out of my own wisdom and strength the answer is no.  I have never run out of toilet paper, money, or food but when it all on me it never seems like enough.  I have told myself that I am going to keep calm, refrain from complaining, help others and stay on task.  But every time I have failed.

But when my ultimate resource shifts from me to God, enough takes on a whole new meaning.  I can have the same amount of food in the pantry, yet my heart is calm and full of thanksgiving.  Things that greatly annoyed and angered me become minor.  My self-focus takes a hike and I can see opportunity to love all around.  When God is my resource the drive to press on becomes abundant and worthwhile.  Philippians 4:19 says, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus,” and it is true.  When you trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior you can take all your cares to God the Father, and He will take care of you.  You will have enough.   Today, open His Word, get on your knees, and give Him your burden.  Then rise renewed and supplied by the ultimate resource.
