A Fear Based Culture

Our culture is saturated with fear.

Fear or what our government is going to do to this country. Fear of what people think of us. Fear of what man can do to us.

Proverbs 29:25a says,

“The fear of man brings a snare.”

That is so true.  It brings needless worry, sleepless nights, terrible health, and a guilt-ridden cowards heart.

Which is why the second half of that verse is so encouraging.  It says,

“But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe.”

Now this is not a guarantee that if one trusts in the Lord no physical harm will come their way.  It’s communicating something even better.  It’s saying that despite all the harm man can bring your way, when you trust in the Lord, they can never take what matters the most; your relationship with God and His sovereignty over your life.

As Psalm 118:6 says, “The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”  Well the answer is, man can do a whole lot temporarily, but absolutely nothing eternally and outside of what God has specifically purposed for your good and His glory (Romans 8:28)

Today, be encouraged.  All the fear this world is throwing at you is nothing worth being fearful about.  It won’t last.  Don’t waste your time.  What will last?  Your relationship with Christ and the eternity in Heaven He promises for those who have repented of their sin, placed their faith in Christ and become a child of God.
