Waiting here for you

“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”
~ Psalm 27:14

No one likes to wait.  We live in a day when we can have dinner microwaved in 3.5 minutes and have someone else change our oil in less than 20…or our money back!
However, we’ve all been in situations where we must wait on those test results, on the doctor’s prognosis, or on instructions for what to do next.

The waiting can be the hardest place to be.  Not knowing what is coming next can be excruciating.  God, however, encourages us to wait patiently, not on the results, not on the prognosis, not on instructions, but on Him.  This is because we serve a sovereign God who is in charge of all things, in all situations.  This verse encourages us to be strong, because God is our strength.  Verses like Philippians 4:13, 2 Corinthians 12:1-10, and Psalm 73:26 remind us of this very truth.  In fact, it is in our nature to fear in the waiting, so God encourages us to take courage.  We are to replace our fear, our anxiety, and our frustrations (because all of these are our natural responses to waiting) with courage, strength, and patience as we wait on the Lord to show us what is next.

In the waiting, remember who is in charge and who is in control.  Trust Him, take courage, and be strong because you are under the care of the God who created all of the universe, and He holds your life in the palm of His hand.  We can and should take great comfort in that!
